These are stronger spatial anchors than a generic township/range reference because the source itself supplies the section number.
Thirty claims match the held BLM PLSS section geometry exactly:

Hat §28 as explicit_section_not_in_held_aoi_section_layer; it does not replace
the source claim with §33 or infer a geometry match.
Ecological value and limits
The section joins sharpen comparisons among tree composition, elevation, beach material, and thin or absent soil. Hog §36 preserves a localized tree observation; Hog §1 preserves a low-elevation coastal setting; North Fox §§12–13 connect nearly bare lime pebbles and gravel beach to the shoreline sequence. These remain page-bounded observations, not measurements of the whole section, island, or present-day habitat.
The legal-section join is also not a parcel or ownership join. It provides a map frame for linking future GLO patents, tract-book entries, soil layers, and land-cover context only after those sources supply their own explicit section or geometry evidence.
