Summary
Lansing Shoal Light Station was described in January 1974 as a five-man crib light approximately eight miles north of Beaver Island. The current NOAA Coast Pilot places the light at 45°54′13″N, 85°33′42″W and identifies the tower and sound signal. Two crew members left in a small open boat on New Year’s Eve and became trapped in drift ice near Garden Island.
Evidence and limits
This is a source-bounded light-station record. The NOAA position maps the light feature itself, but the 1974 issue does not provide the station’s construction or operating history, official agency identity, or the other three crew members’ names. The coordinate is not a surveyed boundary for the offshore station or its rip-rap footprint.

- The current Coast Pilot identifies Lansing Shoals Light at 45°54′13″N, 85°33′42″W and describes the square gray tower, sound signal, and rip-rap around its base. - Map point used for the crib light; it improves the station location but is not an independent Coast Guard survey or confirmation of the historical station’s full construction and operating history.
