Map: Soils, wetlands, and terrain of the Beaver Island archipelago.
Soils, wetlands, and terrain of the Beaver Island archipelagoDrawn from the archive's own data in EPSG:3078. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL 1.0); SSURGO soils, USFWS National Wetlands Inventory, Michigan EGLE hydric soils, USGS 3DEP, and National Hydrography Dataset (public domain). · CC BY 4.0 for the drawing; underlying data under its own terms (see credit)

Reading the plate

This overview is the environmental atlas entry point. Soil fills are SSURGO map units; blue NWI and dashed green EGLE hydric-soil boundaries are intentionally separate source layers. Hillshade supplies relief context only. None of these layers establishes a parcel condition, wetland delineation, legal boundary, or field observation.

See the Wetlands, inland waters, and hydrology and Geology and landforms for source limits, the Island-scale SSURGO soil crosswalk for the Beaver archipelago for the island-level join, and the Atlas environmental subpages for local sheets.
