Summary

St. James Township’s August 22 public meeting examined the procedure and practical consequences of merging with Peaine Township. At its September 4 meeting, the board also approved sidewalk-survey payment and adopted text and map changes for Marine Related and Harbor zoning districts while leaving the Mixed Residential district for further work.

Evidence limits

The Beacon preserves minutes and public discussion. It does not establish a completed merger, final zoning publication beyond the reported motion, or an election, engineering, environmental, or tax outcome.

Sources

  1. Reports the August 22 public discussion of consolidation procedures, petitions, residency and freeholder definitions, township properties, costs, voters, ordinances, millage, liquor licenses, and referenda; and the September 4 approval of sidewalk-survey payment, winter meeting arrangements, proposed marine-related and harbor zoning districts, landfill questions, fire-truck needs, and tax adjustments. The zoning motion adopted text and map changes for the Marine Related and Harbor districts but left the Mixed Residential district for further work. These are minutes, not a merger, final code publication, engineering record, or election outcome.
