Summary
The February 1975 Beaver Beacon announced that the Beaver Island School Library, organized and developed by Shirley Gladish, would be open to the public on Fridays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The May–June issue reports a summer schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 2 to 4, more than 1,500 new books, a Northland Library System collection, and a growing Beaver Island and Michigan reference collection. The July issue adds special children’s and adult collections and newspapers and magazines on the periodical rack. The August–September issue reports Northland Library System help with cataloging and interlibrary requests, plus access during school hours and Friday afternoons.
