Summary
An ice storm struck Beaver Island on March 29–30, 2025. A year-end Peaine Township account describes especially severe effects in the south end and says some residents went without power or water for up to twelve days. The account also records continuing hazards from stressed trees, debris and road damage, and emergency-planning changes prompted by the response. In May, a forum notice announced a public gratitude party for the storm workers at the Elks Lodge on May 31.
Evidence limits
The December township account is stronger evidence for the storm date, impacts, and response lessons than the forum announcement. The forum establishes an intended recognition event but does not confirm that the party occurred, who attended, or how recovery work was allocated among agencies and volunteers.
