William ‘Bowery’ & Margaret Boyle Gallagher).” That entry’s wife, “Kitty,” matches the interview’s “Kitty Gallagher,” and the cemetery record’s parents — William “Bowery” Gallagher — match this family’s “Bowery Gallaghers” branch name. His son, James William “Young James” Gallagher (1908–1991), whose own 1991 obituary names his parents as “James H. and Katherine (Allers) Gallagher,” is James William Gallagher, Young James. No source held here states outright that this interview’s “James Gallagher” is the cemetery’s James H. Gallagher, so this remains a probable identification rather than a merge; the two names are consistent, not confirmed identical.

Not the same man as James W. “Young James” Gallagher (1908–1991), who is this James’s son by the identification above, not this James himself. Not the same man as James Gallagher, named as a later captain of the steamer Joe during its competition with the Eric L.
