Namesake distinct from Andy Gallagher. That record’s February 1973 Beacon retrospective names Andy Gallagher as “the earliest known holder of a mail contract,” carried “probably in the mid-1800’s” from Cross Village by sailboat — a date many decades before this tug skipper was active in 1940. No man could plausibly hold both roles, so the two are kept as different Gallaghers rather than merged.
