History
The reprinted chronology says the office began as a fourth-class office on January 13, 1849; moved between jurisdictions in 1853–1855; was discontinued in 1868 and re-established later that year; and moved into Charlevoix County in 1895. It records domestic money-order service and a change from fourth to third class in 1945. The history is preserved as a source-attributed chronology, not silently reconciled with postal registers.
