Summary
The March 1964 Beaver Beacon said its previous Beaver Group postal list had omitted the Garden Island office because it was listed under Success, Michigan. The printed chronology gives the office a June 3, 1913 establishment date, a February 15, 1914 discontinuance date, and Richard W. Ballensinger as postmaster.
Evidence and limits
This record preserves a newspaper correction and retrospective chronology. It does not replace an original Post Office Department register or establish the full history of Garden Island mail service.
Sources
- Corrects the preceding month’s list by adding Success, Charlevoix County, Michigan (Garden Island), established June 3, 1913 and discontinued February 15, 1914, with Richard W. Ballensinger as postmaster; it is a reprinted local chronology, not an original federal postal register.data1 · beaver-island-archive · beaver_beacon · 1964-03_Beaver-Beacon
- The held seven-page issue scan is paired with the OCR source and confirms the published notice or report; it does not expand the source-specific identity, event, or outcome claims.data1 · beaver-island-archive · scans · beaver_beacon · issues · 1964-03_Beaver-Beacon
