Summary

Three held Beaver Beacon issues (February, March, and April 2011) each list “Bite of Beaver Island” — paired with “the Island Boodle” by April — as scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2011. The October issue supplies the detailed pre-event program: an 8:00 bicycle ride, the 10:00 Island Boodle, an arts and crafts program, the apple pie contest, a 1:00-4:00 food festival at Holy Cross Hall, and an evening Peacemeal String Band performance. The November issue reports that the Boodle occurred and that more than 250 people sampled food at Holy Cross Hall and visited the Community Center arts-and-crafts show.

Program

All three held mentions are brief calendar-listing entries giving only the date and the event’s name, occasionally paired with the Island Boodle. The October announcement names the venues, schedule, and planned activities, but does not provide participating chefs, attendance, contest winners, or a post-event result. The pairing with the Island Boodle in the April listing is consistent with the format documented continuously since 2003, but is not itself confirmation that the pairing held in practice this year.

Evidence limits

The Chamber’s attribution as organizer is carried forward here from the unbroken pattern in every other held year (see the hub article’s Organization section), not from anything stated in the 2011 listings themselves, which name no organizer. The October issue confirms the planned program; the November issue confirms the Boodle and a combined attendance figure for the food and arts-and-crafts portions, but does not name Bite chefs, contest winners, or proceeds.

Which parts of the October 8 program besides the Boodle took place? The November report confirms the food and arts-and-crafts gathering but does not separately document the bicycle ride, apple-pie contest, hayrides, museums, or evening string-band performance.
Where was it held, and did the Community Center/Parish Hall split-site format documented for 2008-2010 continue this year?
