Summary
The February 1972 Beaver Beacon reported that Beaver Island deer were ranging well and feeding on previously cut browse. Its opening described heavy ice between the islands as expanding snowmobile range. The issue also described two coyote kills, limited bluegill and pike fishing, an unreported Lake Geneserath shanty trip, and fair-to-good rabbit hunting. The March issue reported an incomplete deer-yard survey, two recent deer kills, and eight coyotes killed to date, while noting that snow conditions could hide earlier evidence. The April issue then reported no hunting, fishing, or Beaver trapping activity and said no one was trapping beaver that season.
