Summary
The May–June 1968 Beaver Beacon reported strong smallmouth bass fishing near Garden and Hog Islands and large perch catches in the same areas. Commercial pound nets produced four- and five-hundred-pound catches for Charlie Martin and Don Cole. The article also noted lamprey marks on most whitefish, another weak smelt run, and abundant suckers in the streams.
Evidence and limits
These are local observations and reported catches. They do not provide a complete catch log, effort measure, lamprey survey, or biological assessment.
