Summary
Phil Gregg’s “Beaver Tale” recounts a 1968 winter expedition in which Archie LaFreniere organized an ice crossing from Beaver Island to Cross Village by snowmobile. The party navigated rough ice and poor visibility, reached Cross Village, stayed overnight because of weather, and returned by a more direct route.

This is a later first-person newspaper recollection, reprinted from the September 1993 Beacon, rather than a contemporaneous trip log.
