Summary

The September 1956 Beaver Beacon reported that bids would soon be taken for a school building or addition with kitchen, heating-plant, and classroom space. The old building’s lower floor and roof had meanwhile been repaired. The October issue reported that the School Board rejected all bids submitted on September 20. The July 1957 issue reported that contractor Ivan Philips of Charlevoix was on the Island ready to begin construction. The November issue described the new addition as containing one large classroom, a kitchen, restrooms, and a furnace room, alongside reported enrollment of 46 grade-school and 23 high-school pupils.

Evidence and limits

This is a planned construction report followed by a bid rejection and a later readiness report. It does not provide the bids or reasons for rejection, contract, design, cost, permits, construction records, a completion date, or evidence that the entire new building was completed.
