The November 2011 Beacon reports that Little Traverse Conservancy acquired a 28-acre addition to Little Sand Bay Preserve through a donation from the J.A. Woollam Foundation. The addition brought the preserve to 88 acres and nearly a half mile of Lake Michigan frontage, including cedar lowlands, wetlands, and two marshy ponds.
