Summary

The Beaver Island Historical Society’s Board of Trustees decided in November 1961 to grant lifetime memberships to R. P. Hoffman and his wife and A. J. Roy and his wife. The December report calls Hoffman the Society’s first president and Roy his recent successor, and credits both with restoration and preservation work. The Society also reported paying $400 on the museum building mortgage during the year.

Evidence and limits

This is a newspaper account of institutional decisions and finances, not a membership ledger, meeting minute, mortgage instrument, or complete officer history.

Sources

  1. Reports a November Board of Trustees decision granting lifetime memberships to R. P. Hoffman and A. J. Roy and their wives, identifies Hoffman as the first Society president and Roy as his recent successor, and credits both with restoration work on the Mormon printing building and preservation advocacy. It also reports that the Society paid $400 on the building mortgage during the year. It does not provide minutes, a membership ledger, or mortgage records.
