Summary
The May 2011 Beacon reports that Seney National Wildlife Refuge restricted Hat Island access to refuge personnel and CMU researchers for the 2011 field season because of a large Caspian tern colony. The report places Hat, Gull, Shoe, and Pismire Islands within the Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
