Summary
This Wisconsin Historical Society technical report records archaeological and historical work from the 2020–2022 field seasons. Its history of the schooner Abiah preserves a concise, independently cited connection to Beaver Island: in 1852, Abiah carried boilers and a locomotive recovered from the wreck of the steamer A.D. Patchin, which the report dates to 17 September 1850 on Skillagallee Reef.
Scope and limits
The report’s central subjects are five Wisconsin shipwreck sites, not the A.D. Patchin. Its one-page incidental reference supports the date, reef, and reported 1852 recovery-and-carriage of specified machinery. It does not identify the Patchin’s remains, establish a precise coordinate, describe the loss, or make a claim about the origin or construction of Iles aux Galets Light.
