Summary
This 1978 National Register nomination is a property-history source for the Beaver Island Light Station. Prepared for Charlevoix Public Schools, then listed as owner, it describes the station’s buildings and gives a retrospective account of 1851 construction, its maritime role, and the 1962 decommissioning.
Evidence and limits
The form is especially useful for its 1978 snapshot and for identifying the underlying records it cites: the 1953 Light List, a 1975 quitclaim deed, 1976 local-history journal, Coast Guard blueprints, and an 1851 construction contract. It is not a substitute for those records, a current property record, or proof of the unchanged condition, ownership, or use of the site after 1978.
