Summary
The Angus was a 50-foot diesel-powered motor sailer associated with D. J. Angus of Indianapolis. The August 1964 Beaver Beacon says it was built at Manitowoc in 1938–39 by Burger Boat Co., had a 13-foot beam and bunk space for six, and had traveled about 35,000 miles. It describes a 128-horsepower four-cylinder diesel, a B-29-derived autopilot, a radio direction finder, and Great Lakes cruising.
Evidence and limits
The issue gives both a five-and-a-half-foot draft and, in a reproduced quotation, a six-foot draft; both are preserved rather than reconciled. The newspaper does not provide a registry, official number, complete builder file, or later history after the 1964 transfer.
