The June 1961 Beaver Beacon social notes identified Sally Cull as the daughter of Mike and Mrs. Mike Cull and announced her engagement to Richard Hammermeister — the notice spells the groom’s name “Hammermisher.” The October 1961 “Wedding Bells” column confirms the marriage took place September 10 at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Dolton, Illinois, with Fr. Dillon officiating; the bride wore a light green brocaded street-length dress with a white orchid corsage, her sister Betty Lockton served as matron of honor, and Gene Balko stood as best man for the groom. The couple settled in Chicago. Her father’s 1964 obituary confirms her as “Mrs. Richard (Sally) Hammermeister,” alongside her sister Betty Lockton and brothers Ray, Roland Joseph Cull, and John "Jack" Cull. An April 1978 Beacon list of native islanders at that year’s Beaver Island St. Patrick’s Party in Chicago groups “Larry, Jack, Betty, Sally, Mable, Roland” under the surname Cull, placing Sally at a family gathering with her mother and siblings seventeen years after her wedding.

Evidence and limits
