Sister Mary Bridgetta Malloy, R.N., was born on Beaver Island around 1893 or 1894, one of the twelve children of John P. “Buffalo” Malloy and Bridget Boyle Malloy — a sister of Sister Mary Clare Malloy. She taught in Catholic schools from 1917 to 1937, then worked as a registered nurse in five Michigan hospitals for 37 years, twice on staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
