BEAVER ISLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY Marine Museum Opened July 4th 1976 Wilbur Gill built this structure circa 1904 for Shing Martin, a third generation fisherman, who used it as a net shed, a place to hang and repair his nets. Later, George and Martha Miller donated it to the Historical Society, which created a museum featuring pictures and stories about shipwrecks, the arduous lives of fishermen, the Island's many Captains, and the ships that docked in Paradise Bay. Exhibits include nautical equipment, fishing boats such as the Bob S, the last gill net fish tug to work from Paradise Bay, and a 13' WPA mural by Zoltan Sepeshy titled Bringing in the Nets. — a Bicentennial Committee project —
