Charles Philip Gallagher was born on Beaver Island on December 19, 1882, and died in a Ludington nursing home on February 19, 1974. The March Beaver Beacon reports his Manistee Catholic funeral and says that burial in Holy Cross Cemetery on Beaver Island was planned for spring.
The obituary also identifies a Beaver Island farm, mail crossings by horse and sleigh from 1925 to 1928, Mercy trips, ferry fireman work, and later work on the lower lakes. It names many relatives, but this record does not build a complete Gallagher family or civil identity from the notice alone.
