Summary

The new Beaver Islander began its Charlevoix–Beaver run after delivery delays and appeared in St. James Harbor on July 27, 1962. The ferry was christened at St. James on August 5, with Mary McDonough breaking the champagne bottle. The Boat Company then hosted approximately eighty people on an excursion to Charlevoix.

Evidence and limits

The August Beacon distinguishes the vessel’s reported arrival, christening, and excursion from the earlier construction plans. The account is not a shipyard, Coast Guard, or passenger record.
