Summary

The Beaver Beacon printed monthly weather summaries through mid-1963. The January issue reports December 1962 snowfall of 32 inches and 15.9 inches on the ground at month end. The February issue reports January snowfall of 28 inches on 18 days and 28.6 inches on the ground. The March issue reports 15 sub-zero nights in February, seven inches of snow, and a February 4 snowfall of 2.5 inches; the July issue reports June’s 85-degree high, 36-degree low, five rainy days, and 1.55 inches of rain.

Evidence and limits

These are monthly newspaper summaries attributed to local Conservation Officer Vernon Fitzpatrick. They are not a complete daily station record or a modern climate series. The January article describes December 1962, while the later two describe January and February 1963.
