Summary
The January 2006 Beaver Beacon invited readers to submit local “Beaver Effects” for each wind-speed band in a Beaver Island version of the Beaufort Wind Scale. The February issue published Trevor Laws’s first complete set of suggestions, describing local effects on boats, aircraft, wildlife, snow, and shoreline conditions from calm through hurricane-force winds.
Evidence limits
This record documents an invitation and one published submission. It does not establish that this was the final scale or that the effects are calibrated wind measurements.
