Summary
In mid-March 2011, Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association representative Terry Pepper visited Beaver Island to discuss restoring the Harbor Lighthouse at Whiskey Point. The estimate totaled $196,000 for exterior and interior masonry, doors, windows, lantern components, drainage, painting, and related work. By July, the townships reported state approval for temporary whitewashing of the tower. In October, GLLKA reported three donors willing to provide $50,000 as matching funds for larger grants, while the long-term restoration remained unresolved.
