Summary

The January and February 2003 letters pages record public criticism of Rural Health Center management and the new Medical Center process. Writers questioned the transition manager’s compensation, the hiring process, the need for a larger building, the community-needs survey, and the Board’s handling of questions at the November meeting. In February, Bud Cruikshank added concerns about future operating costs, the need to leave the Island for serious treatment, and whether the new Center would improve care. A neighboring editorial note defended the volunteer Board’s effort while calling for more timely community participation in future infrastructure decisions.

Evidence limits

These are attributed letters and opinions, not findings that independently establish misconduct, costs, or the Board’s legal authority.
