Summary
The August 2011 Beacon reprints August 1911 reports from the Charlevoix Courier and Charlevoix Sentinel, supplemented by F. Protar diary notes. The material covers Island visitors and excursions, fishing and storms, the sinking of the Robert C. Wente, the Ricksgers barn fire, births and deaths, the steamer Beaver fire, the first automobile reported on Island roads, and the Beaver Island Lumber Company’s nearly completed mill.
Evidence limits
This is a retrospective compilation. Spellings marked “sic” and editorial notes in the issue are preserved as source features rather than silently normalized.
