Summary
The October 2002 Beaver Beacon’s “On This Date” column revisited four earlier decades of Island life. Its snapshots cover the 1992 zoning debate and postmaster retirement; 1982 school, rescue, music, fire, and Halloween news; 1972 fishing, wildlife, conservation, and obituary reports; and 1962 game, conservation-boat, school, and family-wedding items.
Evidence limits
This is a later editorial retrospective that compresses and paraphrases older issues. It is a guide to topics and reported memories, not a substitute for the underlying historical newspapers.
