The February 1962 Beaver Beacon reports four January deaths connected to Beaver Island. Christina Gallagher, formerly Christina Schmidt, died in Chicago on January 7 at age 71; Mattie Pratt, formerly Mattie Cole, died in Ormond Beach, Florida, on January 16; Myron “Bo” Dunham died in Grand Rapids on January 21; and Charles La Belaunga died in Munising on January 28.
