In June 2011, the Beaver Island Chamber of Commerce announced that Midwest Living featured Beaver Island in “Fantasy Islands: 7 Midwest Getaways.” The Chamber described a two-page spread with eight photographs and a trip-guide page that carried its contact information. It credited writer Amy Eckert, photographer Kevin Miyazaki, and editor Sandra Neff, and said Emerald Isle Hotel and Shanoule B&B had supported the earlier visit.
