Summary

The September 2007 Beacon first reported that Lake Michigan water levels had dropped about 22 inches and summarized a Canadian study linking faster Lake Michigan–Huron outflow to erosion and channel deepening in the St. Clair River. The October issue expanded the discussion through Jack Kelly’s account of the Georgian Bay Association engineering study and possible responses.

Evidence limits

This record captures a newspaper report and the claims it presented. It does not independently establish the study’s hydrological conclusions or the causal role of dredging.
