Summary

Volume IV of the Journal of Beaver Island History reached Beaver Island on July 3, 1998 after a decade of tentative effort. The August report records 150 advance copies sold before the weekend ended, another 1,350 copies arriving by the Emerald Isle, and 220 copies sold in the first two weeks.

The May issue had reported the earlier production stage: the text was complete, illustrations were still being added, and the Historical Society expected the volume to go to the printer soon. The notice listed ten chapters spanning history, Protar, Island Israelites, development, music and lore, threatened plants, birds, schools, and the fishing business.
