The 1977 Beaver Island Homecoming was announced for the weekend of August 13–14: an “Oldtime Homecoming Dance” at the Parish Hall on Saturday evening, and a barbecue chicken dinner on Sunday, with a Basket of Joy drawing. Program

Dance. Saturday, August 13, 9:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m. (printed “1:00 P.M.,” an evident misprint for a.m.), at the Parish Hall. Admission $5.00 per person, with beer, ice, popcorn and mixes furnished. Tickets through Rita Gillespie.

Dinner. Sunday, August 14, 4:00–7:00 p.m.: barbecue chicken, home-made bread and desserts. $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for children.

Raffle. A “Big Basket of Joy” to be given away August 14.

Evidence limits

This is an announcement only. The held Beaver Beacon issues for August, September and October 1977 do not mention “Homecoming” again — none report attendance, a parade, proceeds, or that the weekend took place as planned. No organizing body is named; Rita Gillespie is named only as the dance’s ticket contact, not as an office-holder of any organization.
