Summary
The Beaver Island Historical Society reported receiving the last pew known to have been in the High Island church. The June 2006 notice thanked Ruth Gregg and observed that the wear pattern showed where two people had sat. A 2019 forum listing later described another pew purportedly from a High Island church, but its provenance is undocumented and the claim remains unresolved.
Evidence limits
The notice records the Society’s custody report; it does not establish the church’s full furnishing history or a complete chain of custody for the pew. The later forum listing is an unverified artifact lead and should not be used to overturn the 2006 “last pew” statement without documentary evidence.

- katiek and Sally Steb, “High Island Church Pew research/for sale,” Beaver Island Forum, August 9–10, 2019.A 2019 forum post described a red-mahogany pew said by its owner to have come from a High Island church and possibly to date to the 1880s; a reply only speculated that it might relate to the House of David. The post supplies no chain of custody or documentary provenance and conflicts superficially with the 2006 Beacon’s “last pew” account. It is preserved as an unresolved artifact lead, not accepted as proof that a second High Island church pew survived.forum · www.beaverislandforum.com · 14 · t014520
