Summary

The June and November 2013 Beaver Beacon issues report that the Coast Guard planned to replace the Harbor Light’s Fresnel lens with an LED light of equal color and intensity. The June report discusses a possible Print Shop Museum display; the November report says St. James Township favored keeping the lens in St. James, with Town Hall identified as the preferred location if it moved from the tower. In October 2014, the Chamber circulated a Coast Guard public- comment notice concerning the proposed change and retention of the historic lens.

Evidence limits

The reports document the Township’s position, a proposed display location, and a public-comment notice, not the Coast Guard’s decision, the outcome of the comment period, or the lens’s eventual disposition or installation.
