   The June 22 community notice reports that Grant West and his vehicle crew were shaken and bruised in an IED incident and moved to a rear position for monitoring. A July 27 family update says Grant and another Marine returned early to combat duty, identifies the unit’s area as northern Helmand near Musa Qala, and says the MRAP was destroyed. These are community and family reports, not an official military casualty or medical record; the June post does not independently establish the location or injury severity.

2. Beaver Island Forum, "3rd IED encounter - Grant West USMC - Wounded in Action," August 31–September 1, 2010.
   Steve and Elaine West reported that Grant had been wounded after an IED encounter, was under observation at Camp Leatherneck, and expected to return to Beaver Island. The opening post says “On September 30” even though it was posted August 31; the archive preserves that discrepancy rather than treating the incident date as independently established. The family update is not a military or medical record.
