Summary
Jesse M. Cole’s March 1978 Beaver Beacon retrospective, “The Mysterious Life of Garrett Cole,” describes his father’s Bellaire and Beaver Island lumber work, South End mill, family, land, and reported disasters. A May 1983 “Days Long Past” recollection adds a first-person family account of the Mamie M. and the family’s 1913 trip to St. James.
