Summary

The first annual Gail’s Walk took place on May 29, 2011. The January forum announcement shows that the date was being saved several months in advance. The June Beacon reports that almost 100 people followed the route from Church Hill through the King’s Highway, the new subdivision, bike path, campground, Heritage Park, and the Library garden. Registration fees were added to a fund helping Islanders cover incidental medical costs. The July issue reports $3,136 raised and says BIRHC would oversee the fund for unexpected medical emergencies.

Evidence limits

The July account gives the reported total but no donor accounting, disbursement record, or independent financial verification.

  1. The initial forum notice saved May 29, 2011 for the first memorial walk in Gail Weede’s honor. A later forum post reproduced the event notice and medical-support purpose; the held Beaver Beacon and later report provide the stronger evidence for the event and proceeds.

  2. The organizer announced the public-beach start, shirt pickup, and medical-emergency fund purpose, then reported strong participation and donations. The forum did not preserve the final total; the July Beaver Beacon controls the reported $3,136 result.
