Summary

In June 2015, the Beaver Island Natural Resources and Ecotourism Steering Committee announced continued Emerald Ash Borer monitoring while Beaver Island remained under quarantine. Volunteers working with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development were scheduled to place purple lure traps on ash trees around the island through August, alongside firewood controls and entry-point signage.

Evidence limits

The notice documents the monitoring program and the committee’s report that no EAB had been found during the preceding six years. It does not preserve trap locations, inspection results, or an independent confirmation of the negative finding.

Sources

  1. NRESC stated that Beaver Island remained under an EAB quarantine, described firewood controls and entry-point signage, and announced MDARD-assisted placement of purple traps on June 4-5 through August. It also reported that no EAB had been found during six years of technical and entomological services; that negative result is an organizational report, not an independent dataset.
