Summary
A six-week drive-by survey conducted between July and October 2004 recorded 116 bucks, 472 does, 178 fawns, and 131 deer of unknown sex or age, for 897 observed deer. The results were sent to DNR biologist Brian Mastenbrook.
Evidence limits
The newspaper gives counts and the survey window but not the route, sampling design, observer protocol, or an estimate of the Island’s total deer population.
