Summary
After the April issue’s aerial-observation attribution was corrected from Ronald Grant of Lansing to Clyde Grant of Beaverton, Vernon Fitzpatrick, Larry McDonough, Archie LaFreniere, and Don Welke snowshoed near Sand Bay to inspect deer remains. The report attributed the deaths to coyotes and said Game Club members estimated at least 35 coyotes. Ray Schofield then visited April 5–6 and recommended coyote hunting and habitat work. The May issue separately reports a weak yearling fawn dying after a fence injury and Fitzpatrick’s proposals for harvesting or improving the deer range.
Evidence and limits
This is a layered local report: an aerial observation and correction, field checks, a local estimate, a Game Division discussion, and a later fawn observation. It does not establish exact carcass counts, a formal coyote or deer census, the cause of every death, or the success of planned management.
