Summary
The December 1968 Beaver Beacon reported that Augustus “Gus” Sendenburgh, born on Beaver Island in 1898, died at Mackinaw State Hospital on November 27 after a three-month illness and was buried in St. Ignace. It also reported that Charles H. LaFreniere, a Beaver Island-born first mate from Frankfort, died suddenly of a heart attack aboard the car ferry Viking; services were planned for December 22 in Frankfort.
