Summary

From October 3 through 7, 1955, a six-person U.S. Corps of Engineers party conducted preliminary work in Beaver Harbor. The November Beaver Beacon says the party established shore triangulation and took soundings and bottom samples in preparation for a possible dredged channel between two deeper areas.

Evidence and limits

This is the contemporary report of field work, not the engineering file. The article does not claim that dredging occurred, and it does not supply survey drawings, measurements, funding documents, or a completion report.

Sources

  1. Reports a six-person U.S. Corps of Engineers party from the Sault Ste. Marie Area Office setting up shore triangulation, taking soundings and bottom-material samples, and doing preliminary work toward a possible dredged channel between two deep areas of the harbor. It names the party but does not provide engineering drawings, the survey dataset, an appropriation file, or evidence of dredging completion. The holding institution's portal restricts automated access; the archive holds a copy of this issue and can provide it on request.

  2. The held three-page issue scan is paired with the OCR source and confirms the published survey report; it does not expand the engineering or construction record.
