Summary

The July 2011 Beacon reports that BITA had entered the design stage for a replacement for the sixty-year-old Beaver Islander. The effort had a $204,000 grant, a recommended Seattle naval-architecture group, a planned six-month design process with public input, and proposed federal and local funding. The planned vessel would be under 200 feet and carry no more than 149 passengers.

Evidence limits

This is a planning and funding report, not evidence that a design was completed, funding was secured, or a replacement ferry was built or delivered.
