Summary

BIRHC staff asked the townships to consider an emergency/disaster plan for both internal emergencies at the Health Center and large Island emergencies such as a pandemic, major fire, airplane crash, or multiple-vehicle crash. The account said the facility might function as a 25-bed hospital with staff accommodation if necessary. The proposal included a two- to three-day supply of basic medications, cots, blankets, washcloths, and other supplies, with offsite storage for non-medication items and replenishment through BIRHC and EMS.

Peaine tabled the request pending cost information; Ken Taylor had offered $5,000 toward the expense.

Evidence limits

The record describes planning and a funding discussion. It does not establish that the stockpile was purchased, that the facility operated as a 25-bed hospital, or that any particular patient was involved. It contains no patient identities or clinical records.
