Summary

The September and October 2011 Beacon issues report that the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians awarded $31,795 for a propane emergency generator at the Beaver Island Rural Health Center. The application was submitted by BIRHC President Denny Cook and Charlevoix County Commissioner Richard Gillespie for a 55-kilowatt project. The October report adds that the Health Center was expected to serve as a possible community emergency command center. The January 2012 issue reports a 60-kilowatt generator placed at BIRHC in mid-December, with the former reserve plant moved to the town Fire Hall and the final hookup still pending.

Evidence limits

The reports document the grant, the installation update, and the planned hookup, but do not establish final equipment specifications, commissioning, or later performance.
